Celebrate, meet, and enjoy yourself at Reuthe’s – the Lost Gardens of Sevenoaks an acclaimed plant nursery created in 1902 by renowned plantsman Gustav Reuthe set in 11 acres of ancient woodland part of the horticultural miracle that is the Greensand Ridge in the beautiful Weald of Kent. The historic gardens in Seal Chart, Sevenoaks, are being restored to its former glory. We are situated in woodland on a gently sloping hill with acidic, sandy and free-draining soil. These are ideal growing conditions for the 300 varieties of rhododendrons growing on site and other acid loving plants such as rare trees, shrubs, azaleas and camellias. Some of our species are so special that they are the only ones left in the World. Reuthe’s has won 28 gold medals at RHS Chelsea Flower Show for its world beating plants and there are a number of notables amongst our famous customer base including Winston Churchill (for nearby Chartwell) and members of the Royal Family.
Deep in the woodland gardens with jungle-like pathways and walks up through the Hidden Valley, visitors will see plants and trees so rare they are the only ones in this country. There are also hidden pockets of wild mushrooms, wild garlic and blueberries.
Nestled in this stunning woodland landscape your guests can enjoy expansive views across our rare rhododendron and conifer plantation, safe in the knowledge that whatever the weather, we’ve got you & your guests covered! From an elegant cocktail party to formal sit-down wedding breakfast, this special event space can provide you with the most beautiful of locations set within the lush Kent countryside. Being completely private your guests will feel like they have The Lost Gardens all to themselves and the large adjacent private terrace allows for extra guests, or a BBQ dining experience, to be created especially for your event.

You can hire the entire lost gardens for the ultimate private experience or one of our unique spaces outlined below. We offer Dry Hire options for all our spaces, but we can also offer additional services to enhance your event Including:

- Grazing Tables & Hot Food – We have an excellent relationship with local chefs and suppliers so whether you need fine dining, or chicken nuggets for your party, we will have the solution for you. Most popular are our “Grazing Tables” with a range of artisan meats, vegetables, cheeses and fish. Whatever your budget, we will be able to deliver a quality food offering.

Event Spaces Available:
The Lost Gardens Marquee & Private terrace
A versatile large, covered tent style space, with open sides, Patio Heaters, Lighting and Power Points. This space can be expertly decorated / dressed to your exact requirements. This space has prime position overlooking the lower part of Reuthe’s and with a terrace area outside of the main tent, your guests can relax in comfort surrounded by nature.

The Lost Gardens Smaller Marquee, nestled to one side of the site near the Bistro and the nursery is a versatile medium sized, covered tent style space, with open sides, Lighting and Power Points.

Woodland Roof Terrace
Your guests will immediately relax into The Lost Gardens from this large roof terrace that enjoys expansive views of the Reuthe’s Estate. Guests will glory in the sights of the rarest of azaleas and bamboo plantation from this raised aspect. And if you listen closely you may hear one of our nesting buzzards swooping overhead or a crested woodpecker drumming against an oak tree.
Large canopy umbrellas create covering for a third of the space. And a tensile structure can be incorporated to provide weatherproofing if required.
Much of our furniture at The Lost Gardens is sustainably sourced and is created by local artisan craftsman from oak planks carved from Reuthe’s trees.

Woodlands Bistro Café
This charming space in the heart of our Nursery uses the character of a rock-climber’s hut nestled at the foot of the Nepalese Himalayan Mountains from where rhododendrons originate. The space is fully equipped to cater for sit down dining experiences whilst also suiting meetings, workshops and tasting events for up to 40 people. Partially covered, we can also provide large fixed canopies to extend the covered areas.

The Lost Gardens & private dining locations within the woodland estate
The Estate is diverse in the geographical areas that it covers. These encompass the views of Oldbury Roman Fort from the top of Raspit Hill to the delights of the Hidden Valley. From the wild flora that edges up Hikers Hill to the Jurassic feel of the Dell leading into Camellia Walk.
Wildlife that make The Lost Gardens their home include deer, foxes, buzzards, woodpeckers, alpacas and peacocks. If they come to say ‘hello’ during your stay then please be kind and enjoy their visit!
Private dining experiences that can be selected include the woodland clearing that is The Dell. The grassed Punchbowl located within our Hidden Valley. The pinnacle of Raspit Hill with views across Oldbury Fort and beyond. Or the sunset haven of our Kitchen Garden terrace.
Our 11-acre estate is also available to hire for photoshoots and film locations.

Deposit Requirements: Your date is not held until your deposit is made. A non-refundable deposit (25% of the hire fee plus VAT) is required to secure the booking with the outstanding balance due for payment no later than 1 month prior to the event.
Music Service: We have a noise policy that is sensitive to our rural neighbours, and in accordance with our premises license all parties having amplified music must conform to this and your event manager will liaise with you to discuss in detail.
Drinks and Bar: Our venue is fully licensed, and we can provide a bar and bar staff during your event. If you wanted to provide your own licenced bar, then we charge a bar fee of £300. This covers staffing, glass hire, removal of our stock and equipment. There are possibilities for a partial bar, which can be discussed directly.
NB: To comply with the licensing laws, the sale of alcohol by the hirer is strictly prohibited.
Our car park and overflow car parks can accommodate up to 60 cars both are less than minutes’ walk from our key event areas. We offer free parking.
