Hilltop Explorers with Wildberry Wood Outdoor Learning
A woodland play group for children under 5.
JULY DATES - 10th, 24th, 31st
AUGUST DATES - 7th and 14th
These play groups will take place on the above dates from 10:00AM to 11:30AM. The group is £8.00 per child. Please visit Basecamp Cafe upon arrival and our friendly staff will direct you to the group meeting point.
After the success of our Forest School groups, we were keen to create an outdoor play group that even our youngest intrepid explorers to could take part in, so we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with Katie of Wildberry Wood to put on a forest-friendly play group for toddlers and preschool-aged children, and their carers, to take place on select dates this spring and summer.
During each 90-minute Hilltop Explorers playgroup, under-5s will sing songs, read stories, take part in nature-based craft and learning, and, of course, have plenty of free play on the Reuthe’s grounds. We believe that adventure doesn’t wait for perfect weather, so these sessions will take place come rain or shine. Please see details below for all the particulars before booking.
If one of our Hilltop Explorers has a younger sibling who isn’t quite walking but would like to take part in our woodland adventures, carers can absolutely bring them along but a carrier or sling is advised.
Hilltop Explorer sessions will take place in all weather conditions, barring thunderstorms and high winds, so please be sure your child – and their carer– are dressed appropriately for rain or shine. As any seasoned explorer knows, it’s always wise to layer up, and we recommend wearing long sleeves and trousers in all conditions to keep warm under the forest canopy and to avoid scratches and insect bites. Waterproof jackets and boots in all conditions are essential, and waterproof trousers or puddle suits can be useful even if it’s not wet, as children will be running, sitting and playing on the ground. The site is accessed via a short, but steep, climb uphill, so please ensure children and adults wear sensible shoes. The paths are not suitable for buggies, so please bring carriers or slings for smaller children.
