Why we are so special… Rare Rhododendron at Reuthe’s

Reuthe’s are the Lost Gardens of Sevenoaks, an acclaimed plant nursery founded in 1902 by Gustav Reuthe, set in 11 acres of ancient woodland, part of the horticultural miracle that is the Green Sand Ridge in the Weald of Kent and is home off rare rhododendron.

There are 62 hybrid rhododendron registered at Reuthe’s including Sonata, Bernard Shaw, Princess Anne, Babylon, Bandoola, Soldier Sam, Foxy, lemon Grove, London Calling, Loderi-Titan, Igthams Purple. Many of these are for sale at our Plant Nursery that is open everyday from 8.30am.

There are specimens flowering throughout the season May-September including:

Early May: Rhododendron ‘Lems Monarch’
Mid May: Rhododendron ‘Sappho’
Late May: Rhododendron ‘Aladdin’
Early June: Rhododendron ‘Fusilier’
Late June: Rhododendron brachycarpum – species
July: Rhododendron glanduliferum – species
August: Rhododendron ‘Europa’
September: Rhododendron ‘Yellow Hammer’

Reuthe’s at Chelsea

Reuthe’s won 28 RHS golds in total with 17 consecutive golds.

RHS Chelsea medals incl. Rothschild Cup, Lindsey Medal, Chelsea and RHS early flower shows – silver, silver gilt and gold. Totals we know of so far: 72 RHS show awards, 2 other show awards & 14 Plant awards.
